There's something magical about capturing love against the backdrop of San Luis Obispo's endless horizons. When Morgan and Shelby chose Terrace Hills for their couples session, I knew we were in for something special – and they didn't disappoint.
Terrace Hills has always been one of my favorite spots for a reason. This popular hiking destination offers what every photographer dreams of: 360-degree views that stretch as far as the eye can see, with plenty of intimate spots to frame a couple's connection. The flat, open space at the summit provides the perfect stage, while the scattered benches offer natural props that feel effortlessly romantic.
The morning we shot was quintessentially June in California – semi-cloudy skies that played peek-a-boo with the sun, creating that perfect soft, diffused light that makes everything glow. Those moments when the sun broke through the clouds? Pure magic. The changing light allowed us to capture the full range of Morgan and Shelby's relationship – from those quiet, moody moments where they simply existed in each other's space, to the bursts of laughter that had them doubled over with joy.
What I loved most about this session was how authentically Morgan and Shelby showed up. Their love story deserves to be celebrated in all its forms, and watching them be completely themselves – playful one moment, deeply romantic the next – reminded me why I fell in love with couples photography.
